Motivation for participation in sports among Brazilian adults: National Household Sample Survey - 2015

Abstract This article aims to describe the reasons for sport participation in Brazilian adult population according gender, age and schooling level. is a cross-sectional study with data from National Household Sample Survey - 2015. The practice or not sports previous year were obtained by questionnaire predetermined answer options. All analyses performed Stata 12.1 stratified gender. prevalence of men women 31.7% 16.9%, respectively. most frequent among were: having fun, quality life performance. Among women, life, performance medical recommendation. Regarding practicing sports, reported ones lack time (38.8% 37.8% women), enjoying (34.8% 35.3% women) health problem (20.3% 17.9% women). findings showed Brazil. Understanding these how they affect different ranges educational levels may contribute improve strategic planning promote middle-income countries.
